Western Week!
Don't call it cowboy, it's Western.
Yes the cowboy aesthetic is everywhere right now, but I’m going to share some Western inspired things I’ve come across lately.
Cowboy Take Me Away, boygenius cover
I hope he doesn’t mind me sharing this but my brother went through a deep Dixie Chicks (The Chicks) phase when we were in like 5th and 3rd grades. We listened to Cowboy Take Me Away a lot in the car, so when I heard this boygenius version recently it made smile. I thought this cover was so good and even better than when we’d listen to it in the car when we were kids.
Chalo Boots
These were a recommendation from my favorite podcast and although I don’t own a pair yet, when I’m ready to pull the trigger on some cowboy boots I will be buying these from Chalo. They have a small assortment of styles in limited colors and are originally an Indian brand!
Mojave Flea + Goodies
A few years ago I came across Mojave Flea in Palm Springs and now it’s a must stop whenever we are down there. The store is a huge space that carries independent brands that have a very western, desert aesthetics.
Last time we were there I picked these bandana pants off the hanger and now wish I had tried them on.
Then, in an email from them a few weeks ago they featured these silk bows. How pretty are they? I’m setting a reminder in my phone to check back on 6/10 once they are back in stock.
Ps. If you’re in San Francisco, they have a sister store called Fog City Flea in the Ferry Building!
Last Chance Textiles
Beyond this year’s western trend, I’ve also decided that 2024 is the year of cotton/silk scarves. After coming across Last Chance Textiles, I want to put western themed scarves into my rotation. I have this cotton one in my cart, thinking about this embroidered one, and wondering if I need a slider to complete the look. Oh and I’ll definitely be using their oh so useful how to wear section!
Just so everyone knows I counted Mojave Flea + Goodies as separate finds so everything still tallies up to at least 5 for this week :) I’m forecasting a random bits & bobs newsletter next week, so see you then!
xx Rachel
